My experience has shown that, on rare occasions, confused people see the name The Ohio Republic and think that my blog represents a secessionist organization. More frequently, I run into the liberal blogger who wants his readers to believe that I make the delusional claim of being “a republic of one.” While I have stated (from the beginning and in Sept. 2010) that The Ohio Republic represents my views alone, it seems prudent to add a disclaimer to the footer to this page, which reads as follows:
The views expressed in The Ohio Republic are those of the author. The Ohio Republic has never claimed to represent any movement or group.
I also refer the reader to my “About The Ohio Republic” page, which gives additional information about the principles guiding this blog.
I don’t think that the big government anonymous blogger calling himself “Thomas Rowley” at VermontSecession.blogspot.com gets as many readers as you do, so why reply. By the way, feel free to share who he REALLY is should anyone happen to known.
While the phrase “a republic of one” did come from the source you cited, Carol, he is not the only reason I needed to add the disclaimer.
Got it. I’m working hard on my Secession Manifesto and the more of us write one up, the more likely one will be the next Common Sense that will crystalize massive discontent with the big govt fascist union. Of course, as I emphasize in mine, we must replace representative/majority rule democratic republics with more libertarian *structures*. Even if 2/3 of the people are hard core libertarians, clever insidious duplicitous apparatchiks can use representation and majority rule to enforce minority rule. So direct democracy and supermajority voting – with sunshine laws and minority repeal – are important reforms that also must be instituted.
